At TraitTally, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how third-party services like Google Analytics and Google AdSense use cookies on our site, and how you can control your data. TraitTally has no user accounts — your test results are stored only in your own browser.
1. Information We Collect
TraitTally does not require registration or an account. When you take a personality test, your answers and results are processed in your browser and saved only in your device's local storage (localStorage); we do not receive or store them on our servers. We collect anonymized, aggregate usage data through Google Analytics (see "Cookies and Analytics" below), and any information you choose to send us directly, such as when you email contact@traittally.com.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect to operate and improve the Service, understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns through Google Analytics, and respond to messages you send us. We do not use it to build individual user profiles, since we have no accounts or server-side records tied to a person.
3. No User Accounts, No Server-Side Storage
TraitTally has no login system and no database of user accounts or test results. Everything you enter — your answers, your results, and your test history — stays in your own browser's local storage. It is never transmitted to or stored on our servers, is not visible to us, and does not sync across devices or browsers. Clearing your browser data or local storage permanently removes it, and we have no way to recover it for you.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are viewed, general geographic region, and device type. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on Google provides.
5. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)
TraitTally displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. These third-party cookies let Google and its partners serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We have no test results or account data to share, since none is stored on our servers. Aggregate analytics data is processed by Google as described above, and once advertising is enabled, ad-serving data is processed by Google AdSense and its partners under their own privacy policies.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Because TraitTally has no accounts, there is no account data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You can clear your test history at any time from the History page or by clearing your browser's local storage. You can manage Analytics and advertising cookies through your browser settings or the opt-out tools linked above.
8. Data Retention
Your test results and history remain in your browser's local storage until you clear them or clear your browsing data; we keep no server-side copy. If you email us, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to respond to and resolve your inquiry.
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, by email), please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International Data Transfers
Google Analytics and Google AdSense may process data on servers located outside your country. These transfers are governed by Google's own privacy policy and safeguards, which you can review directly on Google's website.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date.
