At TraitTally, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how third-party services like Google Analytics and Google AdSense use cookies on our site, and how you can control your data. You can take every test without an account. The History list stays in your browser. We also store anonymous quiz analytics in Supabase (Singapore) under a random guest id, with no email. If you sign in, results you choose to save are stored with your account.
1. Information We Collect
You do not need an account to take a test. Without signing in, your answers and the History list are processed in your browser and saved only in your device's local storage (localStorage); that list does not sync across devices. Separately, we store anonymous quiz analytics in Supabase (Singapore): a random guest id kept in local storage (no email and no account), the test you started, the question number and total as you answer further questions, and, if you finish, the scores, result code, and time taken. We do not upload your individual answers. If you sign in with an email link (or Google or Apple, when those are enabled) and save a result, we store the test type, scores, result code, time taken, and when you saved it, linked to your account. We also collect anonymized, aggregate usage data through Google Analytics (see "Cookies and Analytics" below), and any information you choose to send us directly, such as when you email contact@traittally.com.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this information to operate and improve the Service, show you the history you saved to your account, count how many guests start a test and how far they get, understand aggregate traffic through Google Analytics, and respond to messages you send us. We do not sell personal information.
3. Guest history and saved accounts
Guest History stays in your browser. It is not uploaded as your History, it does not sync across devices, and clearing your browser data deletes it — we cannot restore that list. Anonymous quiz analytics (the random guest id, test, progress, and finished scores) are a separate log in Supabase (Singapore). The site does not show those rows to you or to other guests, and there is no email on them. When you save a result while signed in, it is stored in our database (Supabase, Singapore) and only your account can read or delete it. Signing out does not delete that copy. You can delete a saved result from the History page while signed in.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are viewed, general geographic region, and device type. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on Google provides.
5. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)
TraitTally displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. These third-party cookies let Google and its partners serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Saved results are stored so you can access them; they are not shared with advertisers. Anonymous quiz analytics are not shared with advertisers or other visitors. Aggregate analytics data is processed by Google as described above, and ad-serving data is processed by Google AdSense and its partners under their own privacy policies. Sign-in is provided by Supabase Auth.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You can clear guest History from the History page or by clearing your browser's local storage. Clearing site data also removes the random guest id, so later quizzes look like a new guest; it does not delete analytics rows already stored. Email contact@traittally.com to ask us to delete those rows, and include the guest id from this browser's local storage (traittally-guest-id) if you still have it. If you have an account, delete saved results from the History page while signed in, or email contact@traittally.com to delete the account. You can manage Analytics and advertising cookies through your browser settings or the opt-out tools linked above.
8. Data Retention
Guest History remains in your browser until you clear it. Anonymous quiz analytics stay in Supabase until we delete them. Results you save to an account remain until you delete them or ask us to delete the account. If you email us, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to respond to and resolve your inquiry.
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, by email), please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International Data Transfers
Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Supabase (sign-in, saved results, and anonymous quiz analytics, hosted in Singapore) may process data on servers outside your country. Those transfers are governed by each provider's privacy policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date.
